Bureau of Water Use Efficiency Initiative

IPA has been actively involved in addressing water issues and holds a significant role as part of the task force of the Bureau of Water Use Efficiency (BWUE), set up in October 2022 by the National Water Mission of Ministry of Jal Shakti.

The Bureau of Water Use Efficiency (BWUE) has been set up for promotion, regulation and control of efficient use of water in irrigation, industrial and domestic sector.

One of the most important goals of the National Water Mission is to improve the efficiency of water use at least by 20% in all sectors including agriculture.

The target in the urban landscape for 4902 cities is to reduce water consumption by 50%. The objective can be achieved by ensuring improved efficiency both on the demand side as well as the supply side.

MoU with National Water Mission,

Ministry of Jal (Water) Shakti, Government of India

Indian Plumbing Association (IPA) has signed an MoU with National Water Mission (NWM), Ministry of Jal Shakti (MoJS), Government of India on 7th July, 2023 at NWM HQ.

The purpose of this MoU is to move towards Water Positive India by creating Awareness and Education & promotion of  Rainwater Harvesting, Low Flow Fixtures & Sanitaryware, treatment of Grey & Black water and Water Audits in Built Environment.

The MoU was signed by Ms. Archana Varma, IAS, Additional Secretary & Mission Director, National Water Mission, Government of India and Mr. Gurmit Singh Arora, National President, Indian Plumbing Association in the presence of IPA’s National Vice President Mr. Chandra Shekhar Gupta and other dignitaries from Ministry of Jal Shakti.
